Frozen food a hot commodity: Anuga trade show opens

The frozen food sector is heating up. The timely announcement for the biennial trade show, Anuga, launched its registration on Frozen Food Day, March 6.

This year, the 35th Frozen Food Day was celebrated by the opening the registration for the frozen food trade show, Anuga Frozen Food. Every two years the most important innovations of the industry are presented at this trade show for food and beverages, between October 5 to 9, 2019. The frozen food segment is one of the most important innovation drivers both for the retail trade and the out-of-home market.

A comparison of the pro capita consumption in Germany emphasized the growth of the frozen food products. 35 years ago the pro capita consumption was 17.2 kilograms and in 2018 it was already around 47 kilograms per German citizen, and growing.

With a turnover share of 12 per cent, the frozen food industry is one of the five large sub-sectors of the food industry (Source: German Frozen Food Institute e.V.).

Anuga Frozen Food is the central platform for the international frozen food industry. Over 500 suppliers will be presenting the complete international spectrum of products, fields of application and services at the coming Anuga.

The offers range from fish and meat through to fruit and vegetables as well as ready-made meals in different portions and sizes.

The trade show unites the frozen food industry with the food industry and the household market, because the frozen food segment is one of the most important trendsetters
