What makes a bakery a contender for the Jake the Baker award? Founding sponsor, Ardent Mills looks for community engagement, and the judges each look for innovation in their bakery, creativity as well as a heart-warming story of how they connect to with their clients and friends.

In this episode of “On The Rise,” our podcast explores Doo Doo’s Bakery. Doo Doo’s may be known for their butter tarts, but the Kawartha area bakery owner’s entry to the Jake the Baker contest caught the judges eye with something special.

Get yourself a cup of coffee and enjoy this five-minute podcast to learn what judges seek in a Jake the Baker contender. The story will warm your heart, and hopefully inspire you to enter the Jake The Baker contest.

I have known Diane and watched her work/struggle to build her business from the beginning. She had a young son, just lost her husband and her choices were limited. She had to support her son and herself. It has been a long journey but she has worked extremely hard for the success she enjoys. In business, you cannot rest on today’s success, you must be ready to do it again tomorrow. Congratulations Diane. You are one of my hero’s.
