2025 CAF-FCA event will promote diversity, equity and inclusion in skilled trades
July 5, 2023 By Colleen Cross
Ottawa – The Canadian Apprenticeship Forum announced it will host its first Supporting Equity in the Trades Conference starting in 2025 on May 24-26 in Toronto with the goal of including more skilled tradespeople in a national conversation around diversity, equity and inclusion in workplaces.
The announcement was made at the CAF-FCA’s 2023 Supporting Women in Trades Conference on June 11 in Winnipeg welcomed more than 325 delegates from across Canada. At an evening celebration at the Canadian Museum of Human Rights, CAF-FCA CEO France Daviault shared news that the organization will expand the mandate of its biennial event to include even more people in the community built by and for women in trades.
“Differently abled, gender diverse and 2SLGBTQ+ individuals, Indigenous and racialized people who work in the skilled trades, will benefit from a collective voice,” Daviault said. “I believe that women in the skilled trades can now lend a hand up and create an inclusive community and network for all those who deserve equitable opportunities and better treatment.”
