Weston Foods buys Chicago rye bread maker Rubschlager

May 7, 2014, Toronto – Weston Foods, a
subsidiary of George Weston Limited, has purchased Chicago rye bread maker Rubschlager
Baking Corporation in Chicago.

subsidiary of George Weston Limited, has purchased Chicago rye bread maker Rubschlager
Baking Corporation in Chicago.

Rubschlager has a 100-year history of
baking rye breads and products for the North American market. Rubschlager’s
products are sold across the United States and Canada and include a wide range
of traditional square breads, 100 per cent whole rye Rye-Ola bread, sandwich
bread, mini-bread chips, and its signature product, deli-style cocktail breads.

Kevin McDonough, president of Weston Foods’
frozen division, commented in a news release, “Rubschlager will bring
world-class, authentic rye products and capabilities to complement Weston’s
broad portfolio of bakery products. We plan to offer these great rye products
to our customers in Canada and the US through our existing sales network.
Weston Foods is excited to work with Paul and Joan Rubschlager, who will
continue to be ambassadors of the Rubschlager brand and help transition the
business to Weston Foods ownership. This acquisition supports Weston Foods’ commitment
to continue to grow and offer best-in-class, innovative and quality bakery
products to the North American market.”

    I truly enjoyed the Belgian rye bread by Rubschlager( Weston). Which retail grocery stores carry it?
