March 28, 2011, Wolfertschwenden, Germany – MULTIVAC celebrates its 50th anniversary this year.

Since it was founded by Sepp Haggenmüller in 1961, MULTIVAC has developed into a full-range supplier of automated packaging solutions. Haggenmüller built the first MULTIVAC chamber machine in 1961. In 1966 and 1967, the first thermoforming machines followed, marking an international breakthrough for Haggenmüller and his partners. The machine manufacturer then began to develop his machine designs with innovations in resource conservation, hygienic design and consumer protection. In the early nineties, the tray sealer was added to MULTIVAC’s packaging machine ranges, making it possible to seal pre-fabricated trays and tubs.

In addition to packaging machines, handling solutions for loading and unloading as well as the separation of packets, quality inspection systems for detecting quality faults and foreign objects in the packs are now part of the machine manufacturer's portfolio. MULTIVAC also developed solutions for complete line control and for fully documenting the packaging procedure.

The MULTIVAC Group has more than 3,000 employees worldwide, including over 1,300 at its headquarters in Wolfertschwenden. The MULTIVAC group of companies has a worldwide sales and service network of more than 60 wholly owned subsidiaries.
