Fleischmann’s marks 25 years in Memphis

June 15, 2015, Memphis, Tenn. — Last week marked the 25th anniversary of the Fleischmann’s Yeast production facility in Memphis, Tenn. Parent company AB Mauri, a global supplier of high-quality yeast and bakery ingredients, credits employees and the Memphis business community for the facility’s long-term success.

“In 1990, we made the decision to open our Fleischmann’s Yeast plant in Memphis,” said AB Mauri North America president Mark Prendergast. “Our ongoing success during the past 25 years can be attributed to two very important groups – our dedicated employees, many of whom have been with us since the beginning – and the Memphis business community, who continue to make this great city an advantageous location for manufacturing facilities like ours.” 
 
The Fleischmann’s Yeast facility manufactures, sells and distributes yeast to food service companies and consumers. The plant produces more than fifty-thousand tons of high-quality Fleischmann’s Yeast each year, which is enough to bake more than 3.5 billion loaves of bread.
 
Located at 2743 Riverport Road in Memphis, the Fleischmann’s Yeast plant currently employs more than 55 people. Nine of those employees have worked at the facility since it opened in 1990, meaning more than 16 percent of the employee base has been working there since it opened. In late 2013, AB Mauri received the Commissioner’s Award for Excellence in Workplace Safety by the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development.
