Malabar Super Spice acquires Dealers Ingredients
January 17, 2022 By Bakers Journal
Burlington, Ont. — Malabar Super Spice, which provides custom dry blending, savoury spices and functional ingredients to food processors in Canada, has acquired Dealers Ingredients, a distributor of natural food ingredients with expertise in bakery and dairy food categories.
Dealers Ingredients has been a long-standing supplier and partner in the Canadian food ingredient sector and the addition of the Dealers Ingredients team and vendor partnerships will complement Malabar’s existing capabilities and position both businesses for success in the future, Malabar said in a news release.
The acquisition is part of Malabar’s expansion of its portfolio of vendor partnerships, customized blending solutions and services in all food categories. “We have aggressive plans to continue to add product lines and pursue further acquisitions to bolster our position in the Bakery, Dairy, and Beverage segments,” said Mark Brewster, president of Malabar Super Spice.
Malabar Super Spice first opened its doors in 1982 in Burlington, Ont. Today, Malabar operates from its GFSI-BRC AA rated certified facility with product lines across bakery, dairy, meat, prepared food and pet food industries. The company manufactures and distributes dry blend solutions, customized seasonings and rubs, and functional ingredients such as fibres, hydrocolloids, stabilizers and emulsifiers.
In 1976, Dealers Ingredients began as a distributor of dairy ingredients throughout Canada. Since then, the business has evolved into a full-service distributor of natural food ingredients with expertise in bakery and dairy food categories.
