IDDBA fights food waste and helps food banks

Every year after IDDBA’s trade show, exhibiting companies are encouraged to reduce wasted food by donating their products to help those in need.
As IDDBA 2018 was hosted in New Orleans, LA, the association collaborated with the city’s Second Harvest Food Bank to give back to the community.
Hundreds of exhibiting companies at the trade show generously provided donations, contributing to an amazing amount of 70059.61 kilos of food, or 128,712 meals. The food bank distributes these donations to more than 240 organizations from the Mississippi border to the Texas state line, feeding the hungry.
Ashley Reis, the Communications assistant for IDDBA reports that GES and the Second Harvest food bank worked together on getting the product transported in 16.15 metre refrigerated semi-trailers from the convention centre to the food bank.
IDDBA officials announced that they are proud to have partnered with Second Harvest Food Bank in giving back to the community, and thanks all the volunteers and exhibitors that made this donation possible.
