Montreal – Mi & Stu Foods has opened the doors to its new state of the art allergen-free food facility in Lasalle, Que.

The factory is the first in Canada to produce gluten, dairy and peanut-free foods in one place, with many vegan and non-GMO options as well, reported the company in a news release.

“We’re very excited to now be able to undertake large scale manufacturing so that we can reach more people with our products!” said Mimi Bercovitch (the “Mi” of Mi & Stu) in a news release.

Growing consumer demand drove the expansion of Mi & Stu’s small Montreal bakery to factory size, the press announcement stated. With the support of the Business Development Bank of Canada, the company’s new home will also soon be certified HAACP, kosher and gluten-free.

Mi & Stu is looking to provide allergen-free private label options and is expecting company expansion in this arena, noted the news release.

The bakery specializes in allergen-free baked goods such as cookies, cakes, brownies, buns and scones, and also offers bake-at-home gluten-free doughs and batters.

“Our mission is to provide food for people who are often deprived or limited in their choices due to their allergies or illness,” said Stephanie London (a.k.a “Stu”) in the release. “We make food they want to eat, not food they have to eat. We are also very excited to work with other companies to develop allergen-free versions of some of the well-known and well-liked products.
