March 25, 2013, Toronto – The Canadian Restaurant and Foodservices Association (CRFA) is launching a new insurance program for restaurants, bars and other hospitality establishments.

The CRFA says Restaurant Protect is a new insurance program underwritten by The Dominion of Canada General Insurance Company and Totten Insurance Group. The new program offers competitive pricing to all CRFA members and specialized coverage to meet the needs of Canada’s restaurants, pubs, nightclubs and bars. The CRFA says coverage is designed specifically for the hospitality industry including: legal expense insurance, restaurant recovery coverage, food borne illness, forcible ejection and special wine valuation. There is no need to switch brokers to access the program.

The Dominion will underwrite family restaurants and fine dining establishments, while Totten will underwrite businesses with generally higher liquor sales, such as nightclubs, pubs and bars. Risk mitigation and loss prevention education will be available for all CRFA members allowing Canadian restaurateurs to benefit from the expertise of both providers.
