Toronto – Tim Hortons is launching a Choose To Include fundraising doughnut in partnership with Special Olympics Canada to raise funds for the Special Olympics’ daily community sport programs designed for Canadians with an intellectual disability.

The limited-edition fundraising doughnut will be sold at participating Tim Hortons restaurants across Canada starting Jan. 28-30, with all proceeds supporting Special Olympics Canada.

The Choose To Include doughnut is a chocolate cake ring doughnut with white fondant, coloured sprinkles and whipped topping. The multi-coloured design was inspired by the themes of diversity and inclusion that are central to the Special Olympics mission.

Special Olympics Canada is part of an international movement dedicated to enriching the lives of Canadians with an intellectual disability through sport. There are more than 41,000 Special Olympics athletes across Canada.

“People with intellectual disabilities have been disproportionately affected by the pandemic and limited access to social and physical activities have played a major role in the challenges our community is facing,” said Sharon Bollenbach, chief executive officer, Special Olympics Canada.

To support the launch of this fundraising doughnut, local Champions of Inclusion have been nominated by Special Olympics Canada. These athletes have experienced the power of inclusion and are sharing their stories to help create more inclusive communities across Canada.
