Team Canada seeks candidates for Le Mondial du Pain 2023
January 4, 2023 By Bakers Journal

Do you dream of taking your baking skills to the world stage? Organizers of the 2023 Mondial Du Pain (World of Bread) Team Canada want to hear from you. The deadline to apply has been extended to Feb. 21!
Alan Dumonceaux, chair of the Baking and Pastry Arts School of Skilled Trades, in the Department of Culinary Arts and Professional Food Studies at Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) is spearheading the selection of Team Canada, who will compete in Nantes, France, in October 2023 at the prestigious competition that attracts bakers worldwide.
The national selection process is open to professional bakers. The Mondial du Pain is a competition where the National selection and an apprentice compete in three categories together, breads, viennoiserie and a live and dead dough showpiece. Candidates must find their own apprentice, preferably in the same city or within easy travel distance.
Team Canada must be selected by March 31, 2023. Planning and training begins on April 1, the day Team Canada receives the scope of competition.
For a taste of the competition, visit the official Instagram account and YouTube channel.
If you would like to be considered for this opportunity to compete at Mondial du Pain, send your application or inquiries to Dumonceaux at adumonce@nait.ca by February 21, 2023, and organizers will inform applicants how selection for the event will occur.
If your company is interested in sponsoring Team Canada, contact Dumonceaux at adumonce@nait.ca.
