Rimini, Italy – Sigep, an international trade show for the gelato, pastry, chocolate bakery and coffee sectors, welcomed more than 1,000 brands in a sold-out Rimini Expo Centre including delegations with 450 buyers from 78 countries.

The 44th edition of the International Trade Show of Artisan Gelato, Pastry, Bakery and Coffee, organized by Italian Exhibition Group (IEG), together with the triennial AB Tech show, took place over five days at the Rimini Expo Centre, which was sold out with more than 1,000 companies in 28 halls, covering 130,000 square metres of expo space.

The show welcomed visitors from 155 countries: 77 per cent from Europe with Germany, Spain, Greece, France and Great Britain first and foremost; 12 per cent from Asia and the Middle East mostly from Israel, Lebanon, India, Korea and the countries of the Gulf Area; seven per cent from the Americas mainly from the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil and Argentina; and four per cent from Africa, primarily Morocco, Algeria, Egypt, Libya and Nigeria.

IEG staged the show in partnership with the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, with the support of IEG’s international network of regional advisors operating in 60 countries.

The gelato, pastry, chocolate, coffee and bakery sectors were all represented at the show, the latter supply chain enhanced by the simultaneous staging of AB Tech Expo, Sigep organizers said in a news release. There were shows, content and competitions in six arenas: Dolce, Gelato, Pastry, Choco, Bakery and Coffee, as well as the Start-Up Area and Digital Talks.

The show hosted four international competitions: the Gelato Europe Cup, which selected the European nations for the World Cup to be held at Sigep 2024; Bread in the City-Bakery World Cup; The Pastry Queen women’s pastry world championship; and the Junior World Pastry Championship.

The 45th edition of Sigep is scheduled for Jan. 20-24, 202, at Rimini Expo Centre.

Show organizers also are preparing for a new event called Sigep China May 10-12, 2023, being organized by EAGLE, a wholly owned subsidiary of IEG, in partnership with Cologne Expo, at the Shenzhen World Exhibition and Convention Centre in conjunction with Anufood China.
