Under the British Retail Consortium (BRC) Global Standard for Food Safety Red Star is certified, meeting food safety and quality management requirements.

The plant produces Red Star brand yeast, in liquid, crumbled and blocks form, and inactive dry yeast that is brought to market by Lesaffre Yeast Corporation and is used by commercial bakers throughout North America. Red Star’s plant in Dothan, Ala. is also certified with an “A” rating by BRC.
The Global Food Safety Initiative certifies the BRC standards.

“The BRC standard is the benchmark for food safety certification worldwide. Receiving an “A” grade assures our customers that we are highly diligent in all aspects of our food safety processes,” said John Riesch, president of Red Star Yeast Company and Lesaffre Yeast Corporation.
