March 17, 2011, Longueuil, QC – In support of renowned chocolatier Christophe Morel's campaign to become crowned as a Meilleur Ouvrier de France (MOF), the Federation of Quebec Maple Syrup Producers (FPAQ) has awarded Morel a $2,500 grant.

Every four years, the Société des Meilleurs Ouvriers de France organizes a contest for highly skilled professional artisans in different trade categories. To date, no Canadian has been awarded the title.

Morel has been working toward this prestigious title for five years. In addition to spending considerable time in Europe, he is constantly striving to perfect his art and become one of the finest chocolatiers in the world.

"Mr. Morel is an excellent ambassador and has been a Maple Master for a long time. He is always promoting maple, whether it be in the range of products he serves around Quebec, or the unique creations he is crafting for his campaign to be awarded the title of MOF,” explained Serge Beaulieu, president of the FPAQ. “We believe it is very important to support someone of such extraordinary talent and hope that the unique flavour of maple helps him stand out in the contest."
