Podcast: One-on-One with Marissa Velie, Retail Bakers of America
April 19, 2023 By Bakers Journal

Bakers Journal editor Colleen Cross speaks with Marissa Velie, Education and Certification Director of the Retail Bakers of America.
Founded in 1918, the Retail Bakers of America (RBA), a not-for-profit trade association, is committed to the success of the retail baking industry. RBA is a baker’s business partner connecting buyers and sellers for a successful baking business.
Together with their members, they create industry-specific training programs and develop small business programs. They foster the community of retail bakeries providing a forum for exchanging industry and business information and networking, learning opportunities, and mentoring among bakers, future and existing. They create industry standards through professional certification, industry research, and school programs, and they are one of the title sponsors of the International Baking Industry Exposition (IBIE).
It’s a busy baker-focused organization. RBA works in partnership with organizations such as the Bread Bakers Guild of America and the Baking Association of Canada to give bakers access to training.
In this podcast you will learn:
- What the Retail Bakers of America does
- How RBA works in partnership with the Baking Association of Canada to give bakeries access to training
- What webinars RBA is planning
