December 2, 2011, Toronto – Pineridge Bakery's four manufacturing facilities have achieved the highest level of certification possible under the British Retail Consortium (BRC) Global Standard for Food Safety.
Pineridge Bakery successfully completed its BRC audits in November and received an "A" rating for its manufacturing practices and food safety standards.
"For over 30 years, we've prided ourselves on operating according to the highest quality production and food safety standards within our bakeries," said Tony Tristani, senior vice-president and general manager of manufacturing at Pineridge Bakery. "This globally recognized certification underscores our commitment to these standards and to making high quality products that meet the needs of our valued customers."
Pineridge Bakery is the home of two leading manufacturers of value-added and premium baked goods: Gourmet Baker and Oakrun Farm Bakery.
The BRC Global Standards are a leading global safety and quality certification program, widely used throughout the world by suppliers and global retailers. They facilitate standardization of quality, safety, operational criteria and manufacturers' fulfillment of legal obligations, and also help provide protection to the consumer.
The BRC standards are one of several approved by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), an international non-profit foundation managed by The Consumer Goods Forum. GFSI's mission is to provide continuous improvement in food safety management systems to ensure confidence in the delivery of safe food to consumers worldwide.
