Europain trifecta: manufacturing, selling, managing

Paris – Europain 2018 will feature three sections – manufacturing, selling and managing – a strategy designed to help attendees identify the latest services, products and equipment with an eye toward the future.

How do you manage a business, improve organization and treat your customers? In an industry experiencing deep transformations, it is essential to make the right choices and find the best solutions, Europain organizers said in a news release. The trade and educational show, set for Feb. 3-6, 2018, at the Paris-Nord Villepinte exhibition centre in Paris, France, will bring together major players concerned with the management of businesses in the bakery and pastry industry.

The show’s organizers shared details of the three main show areas:

Selling: a friendly living space
Today, when entering the shop customers want to find more than a simple baguette or cake. They want to sit down and enjoy a pleasant moment, find hot beverages, delicacy snacks to take away or savoury products at meal times.

One of today’s challenges is to keep up with the needs of customers. For professionals in the baking industry, creating a coffee corner or a workspace and optimizing design and layout are some of the ways to help boost sales.

The exhibitors attending Europain 2018 will present cafeteria products, ingredients and finished products for bakery catering, as well as small equipment, appliances and services to help bakers transform their shops into versatile places where customers can eat and socialize.

Selling: the connected shop
Digital technology also is affecting consumer habits significantly throughout the food-service industry, including bakery and pastry. From checking a bakery’s hours to buying online to using mobile payment systems, new technology is changing the business and the services customers – in particular, millennial customers – have come to expect.

Players who can help professionals ensure the transition will be present at Europain to provide advice and showcase dedicated technology and equipment, with an emphasis on central questions such as online ordering and managing unsold products. The show will feature interviews with two experts focusing on digital technology: Steeve Broutin, Rapidle chief executive officer, will discuss “click & collect” solutions, on Sunday, Feb. 4, at 10:50 a.m., and Camille Colbus, of Too Good To Go, will discuss digital solutions to manage unsold products on Tuesday, Feb. 6, at 10:50 a.m.

Managing: management made easy
The show will address all aspects of running a bakery or pastry business: legal support, insurance, accounting, production planning, and training and human resources management. Visitors will find software packages covering all facets of staff management. Many technological solutions designed to save time and optimize sales also will be featured, including automatic debit, stock management and staff turnover software.

Finally, Schools Street presents training programs for all trades in the sector. The industry is flourishing and many types of training program are available today, among them basic, continuous, online and short-track training. Students or entrepreneurs retraining in the sector will find information on the training programs available and possible future collaborators.

The Interview Forum will feature a talk with Emmanuel Tertrais, founder of Baguette Academy, on digital learning in the bakery, Sunday, Feb. 4, at 4:35 p.m., and a roundtable with Cédric Le Brian, consultant and bakery manager, about human resources and management, Monday, Feb. 5, at 3:10 p.m.

The Europain World Bakery, Pastry, Ice Cream, Chocolate and Confectionery Trade Show is an international event featuring French and international suppliers. It showcases know-how and new products in equipment, raw materials, ingredients and services to help industry entrepreneurs meet their own needs and consumers’ expectations.

The show also hosts national and international competitions: Coupe du monde de la Boulangerie (World Bakery Cup), Bakery Masters, the International Confectionery Art Competition and the French Schools Cup.
