Nestlé Canada is planning a $51.5-million to increase production capabilities at its London, Ont., ice cream factory.

The factory, which supplies Canada with brands like Hӓagen-Dazs, Parlour and Drumstick, has seen increased growth within the category, which has resulted in greater production demands, Nestlé Canada said in a news release.

The company received $390,000 in funding from the South Western Ontario Development Fund for an early phase of the investment that enhanced the cleaning technology for each individual production line.

The expansion will create 12 new jobs at the factory and 45 jobs will move from seasonal part-time employment to full-time positions. As well, this expansion project and the resulting production will increase ingredient, packaging and raw material supplier purchases, the company said.
