In perhaps the most moving of many special moments from Bakery Showcase, Maliha Khaku of Vancouver Community College’s baking program achieved first place in the Mother’s Day Celebration Student Cake-Decorating Competition sponsored by Dawn Foods!

The talented, tenacious baker presented a memorable showstopper tribute to her mom – who attended the show with her!

Austin D’Souza, Glen Anderson and Ken Weir of Dawn Foods were on hand to congratulate the winners and celebrate the future of the baking industry. Photo: Bakers Journal
