May 11, 2018 By Bakers Journal

Sunday, April 30, the winner of the Jake the Baker Award was handed to Nova Scotia’s chef Paul Nicholl of Dobbit Bakehouse.
Known for his community involvement in a wide range of mentorship programs, most noteably the O2 program where he teaches baking as way to help youth find a vocation. The Dobbit Bakehouse also raised funds for various local fundraising campaigns in the area of Musquodobboit (playfully nicknamed, “Dobbit”) Harbour. The Dobbit Bakehouse is a play on the affectionate term the locals call the town.
The O2 program had launched the culinary career of a few young citizens of Musquodobboit; one went to become a chef in Vancouver, and returned to greet his mentor with news of his progress.
You can read more about Paul and his incredible community experience in the June issue of Bakers Journal. We at Bakers Journal wish Paul all the best in his mentoring and baking endeavors.
