November 4, 2011, Pickering, ON – Lisa Bugeja, owner and founder of Flour Confections confectionery design and supply shop, "battered" the competition on the Slice Network's Cake Walk Wedding Cake Edition.
Bugeja and Matthew Somers of It’s a Matter of Cake won the $5,000 first-place prize in the show's Oct. 26 "Fright Night" episode. Their ingenious “’til death do us part” Halloween-themed wedding cake creation wowed the panel of judges and the show’s host, Caroline Rhea.
This win comes mere weeks after Bugeja took home second runner-up for her stunning Bridget Riley-inspired wedding cake, and first place in Masters Confections for her cookies, in North America’s largest cake competition at the Oklahoma State Sugar Art Show in Tulsa, Okla., on Oct. 2.
