Explosion rocks Corbion plant

March 12, 2015, Grandview, Mo. — Corbion Caravan’s Grandview, Mo., manufacturing facility experienced an explosion in the early morning hours of March 11, 2015.

The Grandview fire crew and emergency personnel responded quickly to the fire alarm and were on the scene in minutes. Of the 15 employees working the night shift, three were taken to the hospital for evaluation. Two have been released. The company will provide an update on the other employee as it becomes available.

The safety and well-being of Corbion Caravan employees is the company’s top priority, the company said in a news release, adding that a full investigation is under way into the cause of the explosion.

On Friday, March 13, the company issued a subsequent news release stating that all three employees taken to the hospital had been released, and that normal operations at the Grandview plant had resumed.

Corbion’s Grandview manufacturing facility produces dry blend ingredients and emulsifiers for sale to the bakery and food industries.
