Danone joins the Canada Plastics Pact

Danone Canada, announced that it is now a signatory of the Canada Plastics Pact (CPP). Through this commitment, and as a founding member of the Circular Plastics Taskforce (CPT), which will join forces with the CPP as an implementation partner, Danone is reinforcing its resolve to make 100 per cent of its packaging recyclable, reusable or compostable by 2025.
“Danone Canada is proud to be signing the Canada Plastics Pact and rallying the industry to find solutions to plastic waste. Building a circular economy for packaging is central to Danone’s One Planet. One Health vision and our ambition to create and share sustainable value. This includes developing impactful partnerships, such as this one and continuing to innovate with respect to resource use and recycling practices,” said Dan Magliocco, Danone Canada’s president in a statement.
The Canada Plastics Pact
Canada is the tenth country to participate in the global Plastics Pact network, which is led by the UK’s Ellen McArthur Foundation. The Plastics Pact network connects initiatives and organizations from around the world to implement a common vision for a plastics system that keeps plastics in the economy and out of the environment. It builds a unique platform to exchange learnings and best practices across regions to accelerate the transition to a circular economy for plastics.
This initiative also marks new step towards achieving one of the nine Danone 2030 Goals, which are aligned with the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations, to preserve and renew the planet’s resources, as we strive to protecting and nourishing the health of the people and that of the planet.
