Comax Flavors hires Michael E. Crain as senior flavour chemist

Melville, NY — Comax Flavors appointmented Michael E. Crain its senior flavour chemist. 

In this role, Crain will be responsible for leading creative flavour labs in Comax’s Melville headquarters and its new NJ Innovation Center expected to open in the fall of 2017. Crain role includes developing quality flavours, directing the daily operations of the creative staff and working side by side with the sales team to generate new business opportunities.

“We’re excited to have Michael join Comax’s team. Michael has extensive creative flavour experience for sweet goods, beverage, dairy and savory applications and will be a valuable asset to our company and will be instrumental in the continued growth of Comax Flavors,” stated Peter J. Calabretta Jr., CEO, Comax Flavors, in a news release.

Crain joins Comax Flavors with 35 years of flavour experience with positions at IFF/Ottens Flavors and Fritzsche Dodge & Olcott (BASF)/Givaudan Flavors. He most recently served as senior flavour chemist for the sweet goods team at IFF/Ottens.

Crain holds a bachelor’s degree in natural sciences from Rider University. He is a certified member of the Society of Flavour Chemists and a member of the Institute of Food Technologists.
