Bloggers in the spotlight at Canada’s Baking and Sweets Show

Canada’s Baking and Sweets Show (CBSS) will bring some of Canada’s most popular bloggers, as well as Canadian celebrity Anna Olson, to share ideas and techniques from October 19 to 20, 2019.

Baking and cooking are very social media oriented activities, with people using blogs and videos to share their successes, as well as their failures. CBSS, presented by Redpath Sugar, opens at The International Centre (6900 Airport Road), with free parking and free admission to children 12 years and under.

On Saturday, celebrity chef Anna Olson brings her flair and know-how to CBSS. Anna is host of Food Network’s Canada’s Bake with Anna Olson, following on the heels of the successful series, Sugar and Fresh with Anna Olson, all of which have aired in 40 countries worldwide. She has authored seven bestselling cookbooks, including her most recent, Back to Baking. Two of these books were written with her husband Michael, a well-noted chef and culinary instructor. Together they have recently launched the Olson Recipe Generator App for iPad, iPhone, Android and Blackberry with critical acclaim.

Considered a cookie artist, Mary Valentino creates instructional videos for her YouTube channel and also teaches the art of cookie decorating to those who want to learn the craft.  Last year, Mary competed on the American TV Competition Christmas Cookie Challenge on Food Network, where she became the champion. Since then, she opened an online shop where she provides the tools and advice for those starting their cookie journey.

Mardi Michels, presented by Bonne Maman, is a teacher, baking instructor and blogger. Mardi also teaches cooking and baking classes for adults and children around Toronto. Mardi is at CBSS Saturday in the morning and Sunday in the afternoon.

Julie Van Rosendaal is the author or co-author of ten cookbooks, with her latest, Dirty Food, coming out this October. She is the food columnist on the Calgary Eyeopener on CBC Radio One for over a decade, is the contributing food editor for the Globe and Mail, teaches cooking classes, cooks on TV and at live events, as well as writes about food for other publications across Canada. She’s also well known for her popular food blog, dinnerwithJulie.com. Julie is at Canada’s Baking & Sweets Show on Sunday October 20th.
