Baking industry reconnects at BAC Ontario Chapter holiday dinner

Toronto – It was a magical evening of socializing, catching up and reconnecting among Ontario’s baking industry at the Baking Association of Canada’s Ontario Chapter annual holiday dinner.

Seventy-five members – bakery owners, suppliers and educators – gathered at the Old Mill Inn in Toronto on Nov. 25 to enjoy a relaxed dinner, swap stories and share a few laughs with colleagues and industry friends.

The evening featured a reception featuring a cash bar, dinner, a chocolate fountain and an interactive game of trivia and raffle prizes.

A roller-skating Larry the Santa led guests through movie, music and TV trivia – “Time Travel Trivia Show” – with an exciting final buzzer round.

Throw in a busy dance floor and the world’s longest bakers conga line (who will dispute it?!) and you have a successful return to industry tradition.

“It was a wonderful evening, and we really appreciate everyone’s support!” said Kate Tomic, chair of the Ontario Chapter of BAC. Tomic said the group raised about $1,500 through a fun raffle that saw winners pick up a variety of prizes including a Nespresso machine. Three lucky people took home winning gingerbread houses made by George Brown College’s recent gingerbread competition organized by professor Sue Fleming.
