BakeMark announces new president and CEO

BakeMark has appointed Gary Schmidt as president and CEO of BakeMark, effective July 9, 2018.

Prior to joining BakeMark, Schmidt held various leadership roles, most recently as COO of KanPak. He has also previously served at Corbion as VP of sales and VP of global operations, in addition to executive roles with Cargill, EJ Gallo and Givaudan.

“I am honoured and proud to join BakeMark, the industry leader in North America. BakeMark has a great track record, great branding and a bright future ahead. I’m looking forward to elevating our partnership with customers and suppliers, while strengthening our capabilities,” said Schmidt in a press release.

Jim Parker, current President and CEO of BakeMark will assume the role of executive chairman of BakeMark, as well as chairman of BakeMark’s board of directors. Parker will assume these duties as of July 9, 2018.

“It has been a great honour to lead BakeMark as president and CEO and to be part of BakeMark’s growth story,” said Parker in a press release. “I am very confident that Gary will propel BakeMark to new heights, while supporting the customers, suppliers and all stakeholders in the bakery trade.”

This news follows BakeMark’s recent acquisitions of the Best Brands and Multifoods brands, in addition to the acquisition of two manufacturing plants in the United States, all a part of their growth and expansion strategies under the ownership of Pamplona Capital Management.

Schmidt graduated from Montana State University with a BS in Chemical Engineering and from Webster University with an MBA.
