A&B Ingredients to distribute umami product in Canada and U.S.

Fairfield, NJ – Salt of the Earth has appointed A&B Ingredients, its exclusive distributor of Mediterranean Umami for Canada and the U.S.

This is the second distribution agreement signed in 2017 for Israel-based Salt of the Earth, which manufactures all-natural and clean-label ingredients for reducing salt intake in processed foods, the companies announced in a news release.

Mediterranean Umami is an ingredient designed for clean-label sodium reduction and enhancement of a umami flavour profile. Based on a proprietary blend of vegetable extracts and sea salt, it allows for a reduction of up to 45 per cent in sodium in food products.

The product was recently awarded an IFT17 Food Expo Innovation Award at this year’s Institute of Food Technologists annual meeting.
