Ultimate Brownie contest finalists announced

March 1, 2013 – The results are in! After much deliberation, judges of
the Bakers Journal Ultimate Brownie contest, sponsored by Callebaut,
Cinelli Esperia Corporation and Mimac Glaze Ltd., have determined three
finalists.

the Bakers Journal Ultimate Brownie contest, sponsored by Callebaut,
Cinelli Esperia Corporation and Mimac Glaze Ltd., have determined three
finalists.

In no particular order, the finalists are:

• The Lemon Tree Bakery in Barrie, Ont., owned by Revital Zephrani, with a classic brownie submission;
• Ubuntu Café & Bakery in Selkirk, Man., owned by Anna and Jana Badenhorst, with a recipe for a spiced orange brandy brownie;
• Annie Larivière of Cococo Chocolatier in Calgary, with an almond maple cranberry brownie.

The winner will be determined on March 8 in Toronto at Cinelli
Esperia during the contest's bake day. Francesco Battaglia, of Francesca Bakery in Scarborough, Ont., will be the day's guest baker. Battaglia will join the panel of judges, including the Bakers Journal team and sponsor representatives, to determine the winner, who will receive a cover story in Bakers Journal and a trip to Montreal to participate in a course at the Barry Callebaut Chocolate Academy.
