Florida cake fair attracts thousands

Orlando, FL – Thousands of trade professionals and cake enthusiasts from around the world came together for The Americas Cake & Sugarcraft Fair (TACSF) in Orlando, Fla., to celebrate the artistry and passion behind the cake and sugarcraft industries. The event was hosted by Satin Ice.

The international cake and sugarcraft expo, which was open to both trade and the public September 18-20, featured a jam-packed schedule of lively stage presentations; Cake Central’s Sugar Arts Fashion Show, showcasing one-of-a-kind edible couture; Cake Masters Magazine’s 8-foot-tall cake installation of Poseidon, God of the Sea, battling a giant octopus; hundreds of competition cakes; and more than 75 hands-on classes and demonstrations taught by some of the world’s best cake designers. The cake fair also featured a Live Global Cake Challenge, where 10 international teams battled for top honors and ultimately named Team Ireland the victor. During the awards ceremony, award-winning cake decorator Betty Van Norstrand was also recognized with a Lifetime Achievement Award for her impressive pedigree within the cake design community.

 Attendees were also be treated to multi-day appearances by celebrity guests like Buddy Valastro, TV’s most well-known cake decorator; Roland Mesnier, former executive pastry chef to the White House; Mich Turner, cake maker to the stars; and Ron Ben-Israel, renowned for his $30,000 cakes.

 Other highlights include the Wedding Zone for “I do” inspirations; the Kids Zone for budding cake artists; a Chocolate Zone for an introduction to the art of chocolate making and molding, and an Author Zone featuring books written by cake fair instructors and headliners.
