Kansas City, Missouri – European-based Bretèche Industrie Group, an equipment manufacturer with interests in the baking, dairy, pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries, has acquired Shick Solutions of Kansas City (Missouri), a supplier of ingredient automation solutions for the baking and other industries.

Based in France, Breteche is a global company with eight plants located in France, Germany and the Czech Republic. The conglomerate also controls baking industry equipment brands including mixing companies Diosna and VMI, as well as ingredient handling company Esteve and dough manufacturing company IsernHäger.

Shick Solutions is a family-owned company that was founded in 1956 and is a complete ingredient automation solution provider. The company designs, manufactures, installs and services ingredient automation systems.

For Breteche, the acquisition provides a North American presense for sales, technical support and aftermarket service.

“As a global company, we have long wanted to increase our presence in North America,” said Didier Soumet, CEO of the Breteche Group in a release from Shick Solutions. “By acquiring Shick, not only will we have a strong base of operations in the United States to support our brands, but we will also have a partner that is closely tied to and aligned with the food industry there.”

The acquisition will lead to a closer relationship between Shick and Esteve, as both companies supply ingredient handling systems.
