May 27, 2015, Richmond Hill, Ont. – Starting in June and lasting through Ontario’s peak strawberry season, artisan bakery La Rocca’s handmade Strawberry Shortcake will feature Ontario-grown berries.

La Rocca Creative Cakes uses several other ingredients that support community agriculture systems, such as fresh cream, eggs and flour, the company said in a news release.

“Finding the right strawberries on a consistent basis can be a challenge for our master pastry chefs, but for the months of June and July, we have been able to secure enough Ontario strawberries,” said president Michael Givens. “Sourcing products from local producers supports our communities, is good for the environment and offers exceptional taste – important values for our family business and part of delivering a truly artisanal touch.”

The limited-edition cake will include the Foodland Ontario logo on its container and can be found in the refrigerated bakery displays at various grocery retailers.
