Get to know Canada's organic standards
September 21, 2011, Guelph, ON - The Guelph Food Technology Centre (GFTC) will hold a one-day course on implementing Canada's organic standards.

The course, scheduled for Oct.12 at the GFTC, will provide opportunities to ask questions about Canada's Organic Products Regulations, and learn how the regulations will impact the development, manufacturing, marketing and exporting of organic products.

By the end of the program, participants will be able to:
  • discuss the regulations;
  • calculate organic percentage and use permitted claims;
  • discuss implementation of the new regulations, stream of commerce policy and the equivalency agreement with the United States;
  • prepare for operations in an organic environment; and
  • list the steps to obtaining organic certification.
