Nov. 26, 2009 – Old habits die hard. With today being American Thanksgiving, I feel compelled to take a timeout and think about things for which I'm thankful. No. 1 on the list is friends and family, of course; it's tough to be away from them at this time of the year. But I'm also thankful for the warm welcome I've received here in Canada and for the way the baking industry has been so eager to help me continue the excellent service of Bakers Journal.
I'm also thankful for the way the industry has weathered the economic storm of 2008-09. Your continued hard work and innovation have been an inspiration, and we congratulate you and look forward to better days ahead.
Giving thanks is something that can be, and should be, done much more often that it usually is – so even though today's not a holiday, you have my sincerest gratitude and I encourage you to share yours with the people in your lives who deserve it.
Happy (U.S.) Thanksgiving!
