Is baking cakes the new rock 'n' roll?

Cake queen Jane Asher attributes the trend to various factors. Firstly Nigella Lawson , who made it look possible to cook and eat cake, and still look clean and glamorous. Secondly, the recession and people refusing to spend money on something they can make at home. And, thirdly, the large amount of successful cake mixes on the market.
