Obama caps visit with cookies, BeaverTail
obama_buys_cookiesFeb. 20, 2009 – U.S. President Barack Obama may have dined on Applewood Smoked Plains Bison, Winter Root Veg and Local Mushrooms for lunch with Stephen Harper on Parliament Hill, but he managed a quick stop to Ottawa's Byward Market for a true local taste before he left for the airport.

He picked up maple leaf cookies from the bakery/cafe mainstay, Le Moulin de Provence, famous for its fabulous breads and pastries all made on the premises.

"He came in, it wasn't planned, it was very exciting," manager Thierry Bammier said. Bammier was the person behind the long counter at the bakery who stepped up to serve the president.
