From Nov. 7 to 23, 2008, Roch Desjardins, a pastry instructor at Centre de Formation Professionnelle Jacques-Rousseau in Longueuil, Quebec, and four of his students participated in an exchange program with Marc Godrie High School in Loudun, France.

This exchange was organized by Desjardins and his French counterpart, Cyrille Breton.

The four students participating were Raphaëlle Boyer-Godin, Stéphanie Faubert, Tanya Grenier and Marie-Josée St-Jean. Their trip to France was financed by CFP Jacques-Rousseau and the company Town & Country, which furnished their work uniforms. In September, to prepare for the trip, the students began emailing each other recipes and other information that would help them have a successful experience in Canada and France.

The exchange unfolded itself in two steps: during the first week, students participated in hands-on workshops; the second week was focused on business training.
“We hope that the exchange projects will persist with the passing of the years, for these exchanges allow the students to open the spirit of other horizons and complete their formation,” Desjardins says.
