Competition # 10-09/10 Salary: $49,874 to $74,083 per annum (under review) Educational Supplement: Masters degree $2550.00 per annum; PhD $5100.00 per annum Assiniboine Community College’s Culinary Arts Certificate and Diploma Programs provide students with the theory, practical knowledge, skills and attitude necessary for careers as a chef or cook. The programs enjoy an excellent reputation and high profile in the community and province and aim to achieve national recognition. The learning environment is highly interactive, hands-on and authentic with in-class food preparation often targeted towards community and corporate events. Situated on the North bank of the picturesque Assiniboine River Valley overlooking the City of Brandon, the Manitoba Institute of Culinary Arts is housed in a heritage building that boasts a state-of-the-art teaching kitchen, the majestic Grey Owl dining room, a bistro style courtyard, remarkable private dining room, study hall and Manitoba’s only culinary theatre. Reporting to the Director, Manitoba Institute of Culinary Arts, you will be responsible for instructing a variety of pastry and baking classes along with other cooking-related courses both in a classroom and/or a practicum setting, you will also counsel students, meet with community organizations, and supervise student practicum placements. You will hold a Journeyperson Cook Red Seal (Baking Red Seal preferred) with several years’ innovative experience in the culinary field and be known in the profession as an exceptional Chef. You will possess excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to lead and work within a team. Knowledge of, and experience with, the cook apprenticeship model, food and beverage inventory control and culinary competitions would be an asset. Sommelier training and experience instructing adults are highly desirable. |
